Chapter 16: S077 - The Butler

The other man watched the scene unfold in sheer terror.

They could never have imagined that this seemingly frail youth would strike with such ruthless ferocity.

By now, his trousers were thoroughly soaked, a foul odour emanating from him.

Lu Xiao made a hand gesture to shush.

‘Friend! You won't disturb my rest, right?’

Hearing Lu Xiao's words, the man could only nod frantically.

He clamped his hand over his mouth, not daring to make a sound.

Satisfied, Lu Xiao turned his body and returned to his own room.

At the monitoring station.

The Doctor murmured.

‘The target currently exhibits no aggressive tendencies! No indication of attempting to escape the room!’

Beside him, the staff swiftly recorded these updates.

‘Dispatch three expendables tomorrow to clean the target's room!’

Lu Xiao lay on his bed, casually crossing one leg over the other.

Although this room was cramped, this room offered immeasurable comfort compared to the Dark Prison.

Not to mention, food was plentiful.

Under these circumstances, Lu Xiao harboured no desire to head outside.

Soon, the third day arrived.

Three humans clad in yellow vests were escorted in by a squad of special forces soldiers.

Each of them had cleaning equipment.

The soldiers opened the door, pushed the trio inside, then closed the door behind them.

Lu Xiao's dead fish eyes were fixed on the three people, his face was expressionless.

These three expendables were clearly more sensible than yesterday's pair.

The trio exchanged glances. The leader, a middle-aged man, offered Lu Xiao a friendly expression and inquired,

‘Sir! Would you like us to clean your room?’

Hearing this, Lu Xiao stood up without hesitation and replied with a faint smile,

‘Of course! Thank you!’

The trio immediately began their cleaning.

Truth be told, the room was already quite clean and required little tidying.

Over at the monitoring station.

‘It is confirmed that the target will not initiate unprovoked attacks against humans and will maintain a benevolent disposition towards them!’

The Doctor said, enunciating each word carefully.

This experiment essentially determined whether the containment subject harboured malicious intent towards humans and whether it would attempt to escape the box.

The reason for the three layered rooms, one within the other, was to verify the subject's safety profile.

As long as the subject did not escape the largest room by the end of the experiment, it would be classified as S-level, signifying it was safe for containment.

Should the subject leave all three room and exhibit hostile behaviour towards humans, it would be designated D-level, representing danger.

Containment subjects demonstrating extreme hostility towards humans from the outset were automatically classified as D-level, bypassing this experiment entirely.

Those remaining in the first room until the experiment's conclusion might be considered for transfer to the outside world by the Warden Organisation to assist with certain tasks.

The Doctor's purpose in conducting this experiment was to definitively establish Lu Xiao's containment level.

…………

On the fourth day, food supplies ceased in Lu Xiao's containment room.

However, this posed no difficulty for Lu Xiao.

He climbed through the window into the second room, feasted until he was full there, then returned to the smallest room.

On the fifth day, food supplies ceased in all rooms.

Lu Xiao felt somewhat irritated, though not yet hungry, so he returned to his room and slept the day away.

On the sixth day, food remained unavailable.

Lu Xiao's demeanour remained unchanged, he made no unexpected moves.

Until the seventh day.

A group of men clad in yellow vests arrived at the second room.

They were holding a banquet there.

Lu Xiao was roused by the noise.

He looked out the window to see a table laden with food, all kinds of food imaginable were there.

Lu Xiao licked his lips and stepped out without hesitation.

Amidst the stunned stares of the crowd.

He devoured everything on the table like a starved beast.

Then, he got up and left, returning to his room.

This time, he didn't mind the noise.

After all, he had just eaten his fill and didn't feel like moving.

In the surveillance feed, the Doctor observed the entire scene.

‘Experiment concluded. Subject classified as S-Class. No tendency to escape. Exhibits no aggression or hostility towards humans!’

‘Containment protocol: Do not provoke him. Provide ample food!’

‘Subject's ability: Rapid Regeneration!’

This data was swiftly transmitted to the Warden's system.

Lu Xiao's containment file was updated accordingly.

The Doctor adjusted his monocle.

‘One final test remains, assessing the subject's combat capabilities!’

He pondered for several minutes.

‘The subject appears to be a high-ranking entity. Perhaps a D-class containment subject could gauge his combat prowess!’

‘Which containment subject should we use for the experiment?’

Hearing the Doctor's mutterings, a staff member suggested.

"Doctor! Why not deploy S077-Butler! "

Originally, the Doctor had intended to use a D-class containment subject to test Lu Xiao's combat strength, but upon hearing the staff member's suggestion, his eyes lit up.

‘An excellent idea!’

‘S077 possesses formidable combat capabilities, surpassing many D-class subjects and we needn't worry about the subject's safety!’

‘Initiate S292 combat data collection! Deploy S077-Butler!’

He swiftly issued the command.

…………

Meanwhile, Lu Xiao was escorted by personnel to another room.

The surrounding walls bore distinct traces of vitrification.

Evidently, they had undergone specialised treatment.

Lu Xiao maintained his curious demeanour.

Since arriving at the asylum, everything he encountered felt novel.

These things were entirely unfamiliar to him before he fell into the Dark Prison.

At that moment, a staff member addressed him.

‘Sir, you are here for a combat exercise. Would you require any weaponry?’

Hearing this, Lu Xiao responded with some confusion.

‘Combat?’

The staff member nodded his head.

‘Indeed, sir! This is to gather your combat data!’

Lu Xiao nodded his head, a smile spreading across his face.

‘Research, eh! No worries! I will cooperate well!’

He thought for a bit and added,

‘I have never touched a gun in my life, why don't you guys give me a handgun?’

The staff member nodded and spoke into a walkie-talkie.

Soon, another staff member entered the room, carrying a handgun.

Lu Xiao took the gum, his dead fish eyes staring blankly at it.

Recalling military documentaries he had watched before, he quickly cocked the gun and fired a shot at the ceiling.

Bang!

The bullet skimmed the ceiling, sending sparks flying, then ricocheted toward a staff member.

A spurt of blood instantly appeared on the staff member's body.

Lu Xiao rushed forward, his face looked apologetic.

‘I am sorry! I am terribly sorry!’

The wounded staff member was on the verge of fainting from the pain.

Yet he dared not vent his fury at Lu Xiao.

Instead, he clutched his wound and exited from the room.

Outside the room, the Doctor held a bell-shaped chime.

He gently shook it in his hand.

A melodious ringing sound filled the air.
