Chapter 2: Supernatural and Mysterious Creatures
‘You guys are really something... If you want to take me away, just tell me directly. Was it really necessary to shoot me the moment you showed up?’
A while ago, he was lying on the ground eavesdropping.
Lu Xiao finally figured out that this group of people wanted to take him away.
As for where they were taking him, he didn’t know, but he was quite curious.
The team of seven people exchanged glances.
Dart’s deep voice echoed.
“Slick! Carry him on your back! You guys evacuate first! I will cover your retreat!”
The one called Slick was the team member responsible for detection.
Upon hearing this, he set down the detection equipment on his body and then picked up Lu Xiao from the ground.
“Thanks.. brother!”
Lu Xiao’s hoarse voice came from behind.
Slick instinctively wanted to turn his head, but when he thought of Lu Xiao’s face, fear suppressed his instinct.
He forced out a sentence through clenched teeth.
“You are welcome!”
Another male member bent down to pick up the detection equipment on the ground and immediately sucked in a breath of air.
“Fuck! Why is this thing so heavy?”
Slick snorted coldly without speaking.
The others immediately ran back in the direction they had come from.
Dart followed at the rear of the group, retreating while keeping a vigilant eye on the darkness around him.
Not long after, a gasping sound came from the darkness.
In the empty street, it sounded extremely terrifying.
Dart tensed his body, his gaze as sharp as an eagle's.
In the darkness, crimson light flickered, like a pair of lanterns.
Those were the eyes of a creature.
Lu Xiao's nose twitched and whatever urge he had to make a move vanished.
‘Filthy lizard!’
He had killed countless of these things over the past three years.
Lu Xiao had only two words to describe it.
‘It's very difficult to eat!’
He curled his lips and chuckled to himself without speaking.
Zi zi!
A sound like a snake flickering its tongue echoed.
A lizard the size of a calf darted out of the darkness.
It was called a lizard because it had a lizard's head.
Its body was humanoid, crawling in an eerie posture in the shadows.
It was extremely terrifying.
Dart breathed a sigh of relief.
‘It is a low-level lizardman!’
Without hesitation, he raised his hand and fired a burst of bullets at the lizardman crawling in the shadows.
‘Woo woo woo!’
A pained sound echoed, resembling the whimper of a stray dog being beaten.
After emptying the magazine, Dart reached for a new one from his waist.

In less than a second, Dart completed the magazine change.
The team members sprinting ahead dared not look back.
Slick, carrying Lu Xiao on his back, was surrounded by the team in the centre. He shouted.
‘The captain is so handsome!’
Little Rain, panting beside him, muttered.
‘Is this really the time for jokes, Slick?’ Slick seemed to have good stamina; he had been running with someone on his back for so long without showing any signs of fatigue.
‘Otherwise, why do you think my codename is Slick?
Dart’s heavy voice echoed.
‘How far is it to the door?’
Little Rain raised her hand, she was wearing a watch on her wrist.
A light screen appeared on her watch.
It was densely packed with roads, resembling a maze.
Among them, a red dot was flashing violently.
‘The map shows it's one kilometre away!’
Upon hearing her answer, everyone present quietly sighed in relief.
Only Dart remained vigilant.
He quickly pulled out his walkie-talkie and shouted into it.
‘This is Dart! We are one kilometre from the door, with a suspected Level 1 anomaly pursuing us from behind. Please prepare for backup!’

At the same time, a busy tone came from the walkie-talkie, followed by a voice that was almost a roar.
“Support team, be ready to assist! Bring containment object S069!”
“Ensure the safety of the field team, no, I mean the containment target safety at all costs!”
A cacophony of noise followed.
The radio was then cut off.
“They have deployed S069. How important is this containment target?”
Slick muttered under his breath.
At that moment, Dart couldn't help but re-evaluate Lu Xiao's value.
‘Perhaps that statement, The value of our entire team doesn't even match a single finger of the containment target, wasn't a joke after all!’
Slick grinned.
‘Although the containment level of 069 is classified as safe, there are conditions for each deployment!’
He turned to look at the team member who had fired the first shot and teased him.
“Are you crazy?”
Hearing this, the team member who had fired the gun shuddered.
“Why is it me?”
Slick scoffed.
“What did you say? If you hadn’t fired, our mission would have been completed long ago!”
The man dared not rebut him, because he was indeed the first person who fired the gun and injured the containment target, thus delaying the team's operation.
“I guess… it was my fault!”
He stammered.
Dart’s heavy voice came from behind.
“Enough! Slick, stop teasing him!”
Hearing this, the man sighed in relief.
Clearly, the captain had a solution.
However, Dart’s next words made him break out in a cold sweat.
‘Glimmer, cut off your own palm!’
Upon hearing Dart's order, Glimmer froze in shock.
He glanced around and noticed that the other squad members were all lowering their heads and rushing forward, none of them looking at him.
Slick then interjected to reassure him.
‘Don't worry, once you cut off your palm, S069 will reattach it for you!’
‘Otherwise, when it comes to collect the price, if your body has no injuries or illnesses, you will suffer greatly!’
Hearing this, Glimmer shuddered again.
Immediately, he drew the dagger from his waist and without hesitation, sliced through his own palm.
Pfft!
The dagger was extremely sharp, and Glimmer's palm fell to the ground, the wound clean and smooth.
Little Rain hurriedly bent down to pick up the severed palm.
There was no time to tend to Glimmer's wound.
Glimmer clenched his teeth as blood spurted from the severed edge of his palm.
The air grew thick with the smell of blood.
Lu Xiao, lying on Slick's back, watched the scene unfold.
‘Hmm hmm hmm, that dagger looks pretty useful!’
Slick heard this and was about to say something.
All of a sudden!

Upon hearing this sound, Slick was suddenly startled.
‘Captain! The Dark Prison value has reached the threshold! A supernatural, eerie creature is approaching!’
At this moment, Slick's voice was trembling.
Even Dart felt a chill run down its spine.
His once calm mind was now consumed by fear.
Little Rain raised her wrist and spoke in a voice trembling with tears.
‘Three hundred metres to the exit!’
Three hundred metres was merely a trivial distance in the squad's routine training.
Yet now, it felt like an insurmountable chasm.
Heavy breathing echoed in the darkness.
The faint sound of a chainsaw whirring could be heard.
‘Run quickly!’
Dart shouted hoarsely.
As soon as the words left his mouth, the sound of the chainsaw became clearly audible.
In the distance, a humanoid creature was wielding a chainsaw, it's body wrapped in bandages, hurriedly approaching the squad.
It's speed was astonishing, each step covered dozens of metres.
In an instant, the Bloodsaw Man was less than ten metres away from the squad.
A putrid stench wafted over.
The team members could smell the nauseating stench even through their masks.
Dart raised his gun and fired, unleashing a barrage of bullets onto the Bloodsaw Man's bandage covered head.
The bullets hit the bandages on its head and bounced off, sending sparks flying, as if they had struck solid steel.
The bullets couldn't harm it in the slightest.
The sound of the chainsaw echoed in the squad members' ears, like a deadly waltz.
Everyone felt despair in their hearts.
At that moment, they were less than a hundred metres from the door.
At the same time, Lu Xiao fell into deep thought, nobody knew what was he thinking about.
