Chapter 3: S069 Prison Doctor

Dart let out a roar.

‘Slick! You carry the target and run ahead. The rest of you, risk your lives to buy him some time!’

After he gave out instructions, he charged at the Bloodsaw Man, attempting to use his body to buy time for his teammates.

Upon hearing the captain’s orders, the team’s formation immediately changed.

Slick, who had been surrounded in the middle, was now pushed to the front.

At that moment.

Lu Xiao let out a soft hum.

“Uncle Chainsaw.”

This was heard by everyone present.

But Slick, who was carrying Lu Xiao on his back, didn't care about anything else and sprinted towards the door emitting white light.

Lu Xiao gently patted Slick's shoulder.

‘Put me down. This is an old acquaintance of mine.’

Slick was on the verge of crying.

‘Brother, don't cause trouble at this moment.’

The door was only a few dozen meters away. In just a few seconds, he could step through it.

The voice of Dart, who had narrowly escaped death, came from behind.

‘Slick, put him down.’

Hearing this, Slick turned his head urgently.

At that moment, the chainsaw blade in the Bloodsaw Man's hand was less than ten centimetres from Darts' head.

The buzzing sound of the chainsaw was extremely piercing.  

The airflow generated by the rotating blade carried a strong smell of blood, shattering the glass visor on the dart's face into pieces.  

At that moment, Lu Xiao patted Slick's shoulder again.

‘Let me down.’  

Slick hesitantly lowered Lu Xiao to the ground.  

‘Uncle Chainsaw ... I want to go with them.’  

Upon hearing this, the Bloodsaw Man's body paused for a moment, then retracted the chainsaw, and his figure slowly faded into the darkness.

The team members were all speechless, their faces were full of astonishment.

Slick stammered.

‘Brother, how do you even know these strange creatures?’

Lu Xiao didn't answer, pointing at the door just a few feet away, emitting a intense white light.

‘Take me there.’

Having finally seen a human, Lu Xiao was extremely excited.

Plus, he was lying on Slick's back, and hearing them mention something about a door and 069 had piqued his curiosity.

Moreover, since they were all human, he felt a certain kinship with this team.

This was the first time he had seen humans since falling into the Dark Prison over three years ago.

Of course, the term ‘Dark Prison’ was also new to him.

At that moment, Lu Xiao had many doubts.

However, he wasn't particularly curious about the truth, he simply wanted to follow this group of humans.  

Slick looked at Lu Xiao's face, his lifeless eyes devoid of any emotion.  

‘Brother, are you really human?’  

Lu Xiao turned to look at him, revealing a slightly... well... menacing smile.  

Slick was startled and quickly retreated two steps back.

It wasn't that Lu Xiao looked particularly scary.  

It was just that his current appearance was rather unsettling.  

His face was covered in grime, with bits of flesh and blood still clinging to it. 

 

When he smiled, his sharp white teeth were exposed, with a piece of black bone fragment stuck between them.  

Adding on, he had emotionless and lifeless eyes, the sight was truly unsettling.

If he were to star in a horror film, the entire movie would likely be banned from circulation.

Dart walked over, briefly checked Lu Xiao’s condition, and sighed in relief.

At least the target was currently showing signs of vitality.

“Enough chatter, let’s return to base!”

Dart ordered immediately.

Slick’s voice still trembled slightly.

‘Big... big brother! Do you still need me to carry you?’  

Lu Xiao shook his head and pointed to his legs, signaling that he could walk.

Thus, surrounded by the squad, they crossed the door emitting white light.  

Lu Xiao felt a sensation of weightlessness, like riding an elevator.  

Moments later, the scene brightened.

All he could see was a blinding white light.

The light stung Lu Xiao's eyes.

His eyes had not been exposed to light for over three years.

After adapting for a moment, he finally looked around.

It was a large, open space with steel walls reflecting a metallic glow.

At that moment, there was another group of soldiers in the room.

They were also a seven person squad.

They were gathered around a humanoid creature nearly three metres tall, cloaked in a black robe.

The creature wore a bird beaked mask over its face.

Lu Xiao immediately realised that this bird beaked masked creature was definitely not human.

Because on its body, Lu Xiao sensed a familiar aura.

Sure enough, the bird-beaked creature emitted a sinister, cackling laugh.

‘There's a familiar scent on you.’

It turned to look at Lu Xiao, its bird-like beak splitting open.

‘You seem to have been in the depths before?’

Its voice was hoarse.

The word ‘unpleasant’ was insufficient to describe it.

It seemed as though the sound wasn't even coming from its vocal cords.

Before Lu Xiao could speak, the bird-beaked creature leaned in close and sniffed him carefully.

‘I smell the scent of an illness on you.’

‘I'm a doctor. Do you need me to heal you?’

Just as Lu Xiao was about to answer, Slick hurriedly whispered to stop him.

‘Don't agree to it under any circumstances.’

Lu Xiao glared at Slick with his dead fish eyes.

Slick immediately shrank his neck, nearly crying under Lu Xiao's intense gaze.

He shook his head vigorously.

‘If you're sick, someone will treat you, but you must not seek his help.’

Lu Xiao didn't quite understand why Slick was saying this.

This bird beaked doctor looked so kind.  

He clearly seemed like a doctor with excellent medical ethics.  

Why wouldn't he let him seek treatment from the doctor?  

Although he couldn't understand the reason, he still decided to cooperate with the more familiar and close human being.

He then looked at the bird beaked doctor and gave him a relatively kind smile.  

‘Thank you, my friend. I will definitely come find you when I have the chance.’

The bird beaked doctor gave a strange laugh, then turned to the support squad that had brought him out and said,  

“Alright, the transaction is complete.”  

“Who among you needs my treatment?”  

The support squad immediately looked at Dart.  

After all, it was because the dart had mentioned a Level 1 anomalous lifeform that they had brought him out of the containment room.

The cost would naturally be borne by Dart's squad.  

Dart removed his helmet and rubbed his temples.  

He turned to look at Glimmer behind him, whose hand had been severed.  

Glimmer was quite self-aware, he took his severed hand from Little Rain and stepped forward.  

‘Dr. Birdbeak, I need your treatment.’

The bird beaked doctor, otherwise known as the prison doctor, glanced down briefly.

Then he fell silent.

At that moment, everyone held their breath.

Only Lu Xiao stared curiously at the bird beaked prison doctor.

After a long pause, the prison doctor's voice echoed.

‘I think you have other illnesses as well. Let me give you a comprehensive physical examination for your whole body.’
