Chapter 6: You are welcome, my friend!
Then, the old cells began to die off quickly.
This cycle repeated itself over and over again.
The sliced piece of flesh could only be described with one word.
That word was ‘undying.’ It could remain intact indefinitely.
The doctor, who witnessed this scene with his own eyes, now resembled a madman, shouting wildly.
‘Oh, shit! . . . Jade Emperor!’
‘This is simply a miracle!’
He nearly went mad, grabbing an assistant by the collar.
‘Do you know what this means?’
‘God! This is absolutely insane!’
The assistant replied immediately.
‘It means he can live forever!’
The doctor's eyes lit up as he nodded.
‘That's right!’
‘But haven't similar cases been discovered in some other specimens?’
A researcher raised a question.
The doctor shook his head and put on a pair of monocles.
“It’s different! Because this was discovered on a human being!”
Upon hearing this, everyone present was taken aback, then looked confused.
Someone muttered under their breath.
“But is he even human anymore?”
“Who in their right mind would cut their own flesh without batting an eye?”
Upon hearing this, the doctor also fell into deep thought.
“From a biological perspective, I suppose so.”
“I suppose so…”
At that moment, the doctor sank into deep self-doubt.
On the other side.
Lu Xiao finished eating the hamburgers scattered on the floor and let out a loud belch.
He fixed his gaze on the last button on the wall.
The button was marked with an icon of a door.
Without hesitation, Lu Xiao pressed it.
A mechanical hum filled the air.
The room's door burst open.
Lu Xiao peeked out, the corridor was empty.
The hallway was bathed in light, silent and still.
Lu Xiao glanced back and noticed a screen on the outer wall of the room he had exited.
It read:
【Subject S292 - The Lost Human】
【Containment Level: S (Tentative)】
【Target Ability: Unknown (Under Investigation)】
【Containment Conditions: Unknown (Under Investigation)】
【Note: Humans lost in the Dark Prison are still under observation. It is advised not to provoke them!】
Lu Xiao stared blankly, lost in thought.
“The term ‘lost’ is inappropriate! They should use a different word!”
“What should they use instead?”
Lu Xiao pondered left and right but couldn’t think of a suitable term, so he gave up.
“I remember that the prison doctor’s number was S069!”
He stuck out his crimson tongue and licked his lips.
“How can I find him?”
He looked around and quickly spotted a camera-like device.
Lu Xiao had an idea, walked up to the camera, and pressed his face against it.
The staff member monitoring the screen jumped out of their chair in shock.
On the screen, those lifeless dead fish eyes filled most of the frame.
At the same time, Lu Xiao’s voice echoed.
‘Hello? Is anyone there?’
‘Bang bang bang!’
In the surveillance footage, Lu Xiao reached out and tapped the camera.
The staff member wiped the sweat from his brow and finally replied.
‘Yes... yes!’
‘May I... assist you with anything?’
Upon hearing the response, Lu Xiao smiled.
‘I would like to ask, how do I get to Doctor S069's room?’
“Just… just follow the corridor straight ahead! The room with the number S069 is the one!”
The voice came from the ceiling.
Lu Xiao chuckled.
‘Thanks!’
‘You are... you are welcome!’
So, Lu Xiao continued walking down the corridor.
After about twenty minutes, he finally saw the numbered room on the wall.
【Subject S069 - Prison Doctor】
【Containment Level: S】
【Target Abilities: Diagnosis, Medical Skills, Creating and Spreading Viruses and Plagues!】
【Containment Conditions: Regularly send a patient for treatment, otherwise he will become violent!】
【Combat Ability: You wouldn't want to fight him!】
【PS: A doctor from the Middle Ages, driven by a steadfast belief to eliminate all illness from the world, he relentlessly searches the globe for patients to cure.】
【PS: If you unfortunately encounter him, you'd better hope you are genuinely ill, otherwise, he will dissect you to find the source of your ailment!】
【PS: You can strike a deal with him to have him assist you, but the condition is that you must allow him to treat you and praise his exceptional medical skills!】
Lu Xiao finished reading and curved his lips into a smile.
“Indeed, a doctor full of medical ethics!”
“This noble belief is truly admirable!”
“If all doctors had such noble virtues, how wonderful this world would be!”
Lu Xiao praised sincerely from the bottom of his heart.
At the same time, his hand reached out to the doorbell button on the wall.
Soon, the massive steel door swung open.
Inside, the three-metre-tall prison doctor was holding down a young man dressed in special forces attire.
“Be good! Trust me! My diagnosis is accurate!”
“Your body is sick, and it’s very serious!”
The chilling voice emanated through the bird-beak mask on his face.
The young man being held down was none other than Glimmer, a member of the field team that had detained Lu Xiao.
Glimmer struggled relentlessly, his mouth tightly covered by the prison doctor, unable to utter a sound.
His body twisted constantly, attempting to break free from the prison doctor's broad hands.
Upon seeing the door open, the prison doctor turned his head to look at Lu Xiao standing at the doorway.
For a moment, his voice became slightly hoarse.
‘Oh! My friend, you really came!’
At the same time, he withdrew his hands from Glimmer.
Seeing this, Glimmer jumped up in one swift movement.
He then bolted for the door.
However, as he passed by Lu Xiao, he was pulled back by Lu Xiao.
Glimmer was at a loss for words.
‘Brother! Let me go!’
Lu Xiao shook his head.
‘Why aren't you following the doctor's orders?’
Glimmer strained with all his might to break free from Lu Xiao's grip.
However, Lu Xiao's hand was as firm as an iron clamp, impossible to shake.
No matter how hard Glimmer struggled, that hand remained motionless.
‘He he he!’
In the blink of an eye, the prison doctor had arrived in front of the two of them.
He extended a hand, which resembled the claw of some bird, with only three fingers.
Those three fingers were slender and elongated, with an extremely disproportionate ratio.
The tips of the fingers were embedded with surgical blades.
He grabbed Glimmer, who was trying to escape, and the tips of his fingers pierced into Glimmer's flesh. The bird-like beak on his mask opened and closed a few times.
‘Thank you, my friend!’
‘If it weren't for your arrival, this mischievous patient would have escaped!’
Lu Xiao gave a warm smile.
‘You are welcome, my friend!’
