Chapter 9: This is truly a crazy surgery

Upon hearing this, Lu Xiao became somewhat anxious.

‘How could this be?’

The prison doctor's voice betrayed no emotion.

‘My friend, your cells are highly active and wounds typically heal quickly on their own!’

Lu Xiao asked again.

‘Then why does the wound on my back persist?’

The prison doctor's voice came again.

“It’s likely that the wound is contaminated with cursed energy, or perhaps it was caused by your surgeon friend’s chainsaw!”

The prison doctor spoke reassuringly.

“Rest assured, my friend! I am a qualified doctor, and healing patients is my life’s pursuit! Let me perform a physical examination first!”

Lu Xiao nodded, his tone urgent.

‘My friend, I absolutely trust your medical skills! Let's get started right away!’

Concerned about his own health, Lu Xiao dared not delay.

After pulling down the light to face the operating table, he immediately lay down on it.

The prison doctor stepped forward, extended his finger, and gently slit open Lu Xiao's back.

He then dipped his finger in some blood, placed it on his nose and explained to Lu Xiao.

‘I once read about a diagnostic method in an ancient text!’

‘The doctors in the book referred to this method as observation, smelling, asking questions, and cutting!’

‘It is an extremely profound diagnostic method!’

‘It took me a hundred years to master just two of them!’

‘That is smelling and cutting!’

‘I modified my olfactory nerves to give myself an extraordinary sense of smell!’

‘Often, I only need to smell a patient's blood to diagnose their condition!’

Suddenly, he paused.

Lu Xiao sensed something was off and hurriedly asked.

‘Did you smell what illness I have?’

The prison doctor remained silent for a moment, then his tone grew extremely serious and sharp.

“I detected the scent of a curse in your blood!”

Upon hearing it was a curse, Lu Xiao sighed in relief once more.

“It’s just a curse! I thought I was actually sick, that really scared me!”

However, the prison doctor’s tone was not very pleasant.

“This curse is very rare and powerful. In my decades as a doctor, this is only the second time I have encountered it!”

Hearing this, Lu Xiao grew anxious again.

“Is that true?”

The prison doctor nodded.

“The previous time I saw this curse was on a pig!”

“That pig eventually turned into a mindless, instinct-driven, it's rotten flesh was as worthless as dog shit!”

Hearing this, Lu Xiao’s face twisted into an ugly grin.

“Is it that intense?”

Meanwhile, on the other end of the surveillance feed.

The doctor held a notebook in his hands, scribbling furiously on it.

He meticulously recorded Lu Xiao and the prison doctor’s conversation.

His eyes gleamed with a terrifying light.

“This information is truly a precious treasure!”

The staff nearby dared not breathe a word, fearing they might disturb the doctor.

As for the bloody scene, they didn’t feel much about it.

They had seen far bloodier scenes before.

However, their fear of Lu Xiao had deepened considerably.

The prison doctor's voice rang out at that moment.

‘My friend! Your condition is proving rather tricky!’

‘I need the assistance of another friend!’

Apparently concerned that Lu Xiao might be frightened, he hurriedly added.

‘Rest assured! He is an excellent orthopaedic surgeon!’

Lu Xiao was touched.

‘How can I thank you, my friend?’

The prison doctor shook his head and said solemnly.

‘I am a doctor with medical ethics, I don't need the patient's gratitude! As long as there is even the slightest possibility of curing the patient, I will do my best!’

Hearing this, Lu Xiao truly admired this doctor wearing a bird beak mask.

“You are truly a doctor of high moral character!”

…………

Soon, the prison doctor returned here with his friend.

He was carrying a large medical kit on his back.

It was clear that he had prepared thoroughly this time.

His friend had no flesh or blood left on his body, only a skeleton body.

And it wasn’t even a skeleton that resembled a human's structure.

It resembled the skeleton of some unnameable creature, with claws and fangs, looking extremely exaggerated.

A large toolbox was hanging from the skeleton—yes, a toolbox.

Lu Xiao had already been sitting on the operating table waiting.

Upon seeing the prison doctor bring his friend over, he hurriedly asked.

“Who is this friend?”

“My name is Ivan!”

The voice came from Ivan’s body.

It wasn’t produced by vocal cords.

Instead, the bones vibrated at a special frequency.

When they vibrated, they caused resonance in Ivan’s bones, making the sound seem like it was coming from his body.

On the other end of the monitor, a staff member exclaimed.

‘Subject S081, the Bone Carver!’

The doctor's eyes lit up as he clutched his notebook tightly, waiting for their voices to come through.

Clang!

Ivan slammed his toolbox onto the ground.

Beside him, the prison doctor also set down his medical kit.

‘Ivan! This is the patient I told you about!’

‘He's been cursed! And the curse has penetrated his bones! That's why I had to seek your help!’

Ivan didn't speak. In his hollow eye sockets, two emerald-green flames flickered constantly.

It was expressing the fluctuations in his emotions.

The prison doctor opened the medical kit and quickly took out a glass bottle with a capacity of five litres.

He said to Lu Xiao.

‘My friend! Don't worry, I didn't forget to bring the anaesthetic this time!’

‘I will be removing your entire bone and even with the anaesthetic, it might still hurt a little!’

‘You have to endure it!’

Upon hearing this, Lu Xiao’s lips twitched wildly.

“This is truly a crazy surgery!”

He sighed, then lay down.

“Come on, my friend! I believe in you!”

Lu Xiao highly appreciated the prison doctor’s medical skills and medical ethics.

He believed that this kind-hearted doctor would completely cure him.

After all, the consequence of this curse was to turn into a pile of lifeless and mindless flesh.

This was something Lu Xiao could not accept.

Therefore, he desperately wanted to cure the illness in his body.

The prison doctor and Ivan exchanged a glance.

The soul fire in Ivan's eyes flickered violently. He then bent down, took a hammer and a small chisel from the toolbox.

The prison doctor's body emitted a sound.

‘I will do my best!’

…………

As large amounts of anaesthetic was injected into his body, Lu Xiao felt his eyelids grow heavy like there was a thousand pounds weighing down on him.

In less than thirty seconds, he had fallen into a deep sleep.

The prison doctor extended his finger and slowly sliced open Lu Xiao's chest.

For a moment, the room was filled only with the sound of flesh being cut open.

After completely slicing open Lu Xiao, he took out a bottle of dark green liquid and evenly applied it to the open wound.

In an instant, no more blood flowed from the wound.

Then, the prison doctor took out dozens of bottles of various sizes from the medical kit.

He poured all the liquids from the bottles onto Lu Xiao's body, then spread them evenly, using a technique similar to marinating pork.

Several hours later.

The prison doctor held a skeleton in his hands.

The skeleton was already complete, except for the absence of the skull.

On the other side, Ivan had already set up a shelf.

He took the skeleton and carefully hung it on the shelf.

Just then, the unconscious Glimmer slowly opened his eyes.

He had clearly woken up.

As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw this hellish scene.

‘Holy shit! Too fierce!’

He quickly closed his eyes, but when he opened them again, the same scene remained.

He trembled as he pinched his thigh.

The intense pain swept through his brain.

He finally realised this wasn't a dream.

Then, he fainted again.
