Chapter 10: Surgery is completed

Even the staff monitoring the procedure were startled by the scene.

Extracting bones from a living person, they had never seen anything like it before!

The doctor pushed up his monocle.

His gaze fell on Ivan, who was holding a hammer.

Ivan stood before Lu Xiao's skeleton.

One hand held the hammer, the other hand held the chisel.

Clink!

Clink!

He began carving on Lu Xiao's bones.

‘Doctor! Are we really not going to stop them?’

The doctor pushed his monocle.

‘Of course not! We need to stop them immediately!’

‘So who's willing to go?’

Upon hearing the doctor's words, the staff exchanged glances.

Suddenly, the Doctor's exclamation snapped everyone back to reality.

‘Holy shit! He's actually using image carving techniques on the bones!’

Upon hearing this, everyone turned their gaze towards the skeleton.

In the surveillance video, the skeleton was now adorned with intricate and elaborate patterns, indeed carved using the art of image carving.

The iron hammer struck the chisel repeatedly, sparking a string of sparks.

The patterns on the skeleton grew more numerous.

Those patterns connected together, like an activated magical array, emitting a faint glow.

As the carving progressed, the glow grew increasingly intense.

After a long time, Ivan put down his tools.

Perhaps he was a human being in his previous life, he reached up to wipe the sweat from his forehead, even though there was nothing there.

Looking again at the suspended skeleton, the carved patterns were obscure and difficult to understand, yet they carried a strange beauty.

What had once been a terrifying skeleton now resembled a work of art.

‘His curse is too deeply rooted. I can only suppress it using the alchemical array, I cannot eradicate it entirely!’

Ivan's voice echoed near the prison doctor's body.

The prison doctor nodded, propping his chin up with three fingers.

‘It's more or less what I expected!’

‘Next, I will put his head back in place!’

Ivan didn't respond. He first put the tools on the ground back into the toolbox, then stood in place without moving.

The flickering soul flame in his empty eye sockets seemed to be saying,

‘Hurry up! I want to see!’

The prison doctor forced the skeleton back into Lu Xiao's body.

Then he repositioned the scattered internal organs.

Next came the nerves, blood vessels...

Finally, the prison doctor carefully sutured Lu Xiao's body together.

The entire surgery was now complete.

Before the prison doctor could breathe a sigh of relief, Ivan's voice echoed again from within his body.

‘It seems like there's an extra part!’

The prison doctor froze upon hearing this.

He looked down at a tray beside the operating table.

Inside lay a bloodied organ.

‘Damn it! I forgot to reattach his vocal cords!’

…………

The door to the containment room opened.

A squad of fully armed soldiers surrounded the area.

The doctor's voice came over the radio.

“Bring S292 back. If S069 and S081 interfere, abandon the operation!”

The lead soldier immediately ordered his men to lift Lu Xiao, who was lying on the operating table covered in blood, and then looked at the prison doctor and Ivan.

He made no attempt to communicate, if either of the containment subjects made any moves, they would evacuate immediately.

Fortunately, the prison doctor and Ivan did not stop them; they simply watched silently.

Lu Xiao had been sutured by the prison doctor, and the bleeding had already stopped, but he remained unconscious.

The two men responsible for carrying Lu Xiao were startled.

Lu Xiao's body was very hot and even through their special operations gloves, they could feel the heat radiating from his body.

“Captain! The target’s body temperature is abnormal!”

The captain hurried forward to check, removing his special operations gloves and placing his hand on Lu Xiao’s forehead.

“Whoa!”

It felt like touching a red-hot iron, and he quickly withdrew his hand before asking over the radio.

“Doctor! Target S292’s body temperature is abnormal!”

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the radio before the response came.

“Ask the prison doctor! Beep beep beep!”

After the radio call was disconnected, the special forces team looked at each other in confusion.

Finally, the captain gathered his courage and addressed the prison doctor.

“Doctor! He…”

Before he could finish, the prison doctor’s chilling voice echoed through the air.

“Oh, it’s nothing serious, just a series of surgical complications. I have already administered the medication I prepared for him!”

“Once his temperature stabilises, he should wake up!”

Hearing this, the captain sighed in relief and ordered the team to carry Lu Xiao away.

Just as they reached the door, the prison doctor’s voice came from behind again.

“Wait!”

Hearing this, everyone froze in place.

Although the prison doctor was classified as an S-level living containment subject, that didn’t mean he wouldn’t attack people.

S-level generally meant that if you didn’t provoke him, he wouldn’t attack you.

“There’s another human here; take him with you!”

The prison doctor’s next words caused everyone to breathe a sigh of relief.

They had naturally seen the person lying unconscious on the ground.

However, the doctor’s orders did not include taking him out.

The captain turned around.

“At your service, sir!”

For a moment, the containment room was left with only the prison doctor and Ivan.

Ivan’s voice came from the prison doctor’s body.

“I will be going back now. I am satisfied with this carving!”

The prison doctor nodded without speaking.

It seemed neither of them was worried about the surgery failing.

On the other side.

Lu Xiao was submerged in a nutrient solution.

His skin was rapidly absorbing the nutrient solution.

The doctor said while pushing his monocle.

“After the surgery, the activity of his cells has decreased!”

“But the cells at the incision site are still active! The wound is healing quickly!”

“It seems that the surgeries on S069 and S081 were successful!”

The prison doctor and Lu Xiao’s conversation was clearly audible through the surveillance system.

Many things are beyond scientific explanation.

For instance, the cellular activity on Lu Xiao's body is abnormally active.

The rate of multiplication and division is also unprecedented.

However, after hearing the prison doctor's words, the doctor also understood.

‘If the multiplication continued at the original rate, his fate would very likely have been reduced to a pile of rotting flesh!’

‘But now, his cellular activity rate is within a normal range!’

‘What a miraculous surgery!’

‘Oh, Satan! I really want to dissect him!’

The doctor's eyes gleamed with an unusual light as he looked at Lu Xiao.

At that moment, Lu Xiao appeared to him like a girl lying on the bed, completely naked.

Every inch of her body exuded a deadly allure.

The staff nearby quickly moved away from the doctor.

They feared that if the doctor couldn’t dissect Lu Xiao, he might turn his attention to them instead.

According to the containment regulations, researchers are not permitted to inflict any subjective harm on containment subjects.

But it doesn’t say researchers can’t harm other researchers.
