Chapter 13: Was It Delicious?

‘Weren't you listed as human in the records?’

‘Why do you have the pressuring aura of a High-Rank Entity?!’

When Enzo uttered these words, it wasn't a question, it was more like a cry of terror.

Hearing Enzo's words, Slick looked puzzled.

‘What are High-Rank Entities?’

Glimmer spoke up beside him.

‘High-Rank Entities refer to those bizarre creatures of higher rank!’

‘To make a comparison, Enzo here is a mortal! Whereas S292 is an emperor!’

Slick seemed to grasp the concept.

‘Is there such a thing?’

Glimmer nodded.

‘Mm! The Captain told me this while we were chatting!’

‘His former teammate perished at the hands of a High-Rank Entity!’

Slick flashed a grimace.

‘So strictly speaking S292 isn't a human, right?’

Glimmer shook his head.

‘I don't know either!’

Their voices were low, yet Lu Xiao heard every word clearly.

His head twisted 180 degrees to face the whispering pair.

A faint, rather “kind” smile touched his lips.

‘I am really a human! You must believe me!’

Had his head not been contorted to an angle impossible for a human, they might have been convinced.

Little Rain was so terrified she was on the verge of crying out.

Seeing her like this, Lu Xiao’s expression instantly turned vicious.

He twisted his head another 180 degrees to look at Enzo, who was sprawled on the floor, his neck now twisted a full 360 degrees.

‘It's all because of your appearance which frightened this lovely lady!’

As he spoke, his expression had become somewhat twisted.

Enzo was still muttering incoherently.

‘Impossible! Impossible!’

Slick boldly asked.

‘S292... Sir! What sort of anomaly is he?’

Lu Xiao's neck snapped back into place with a series of cracking bones.

This spectacle silenced everyone present.

Lu Xiao cracked his neck.

‘I have a name. I am Lu Xiao, Xiao as in “smiling”!’

Pointing at Enzo sprawled on the floor, he declared, ‘He scarcely qualifies as an anomaly! Merely a lowly vampire!’

‘And a newly converted one at that!’

Just then, the training room door swung open once more.

The Doctor strode inside.

He had witnessed the entire incident through the surveillance feed.

After spending considerable time lifting the asylum's emergency protocols, he had finally arrived.

Upon seeing the Doctor enter, Lu Xiao glanced at him before ignoring him.

The Doctor first examined Darts' condition.

Dart was in a dire state, excessive blood loss was one of the many issues.

Enzo's bone wings had pierced through his abdomen and chest.

His internal organs were severely damaged and combined with prolonged blood loss, his vital signs were barely detectable.

Under normal medical circumstances, this would warrant notifying the patient's family.

But this was not an ordinary place.

The Doctor retrieved his walkie-talkie.

‘Bring S069 over here!’

Suddenly, he seemed to recall something else.

‘Ensure that he brings the medical kit!’

After completing these arrangements, he approached Lu Xiao.

‘You were absolutely brilliant just now!’

Lu Xiao exclaimed cheerfully upon hearing this.

‘Sir, thank you for the compliment!’

The Doctor adjusted his monocle and gestured towards Enzo, who lay motionless on the floor.

‘You mentioned he was a recently converted vampire?’

Lu Xiao nodded, murmuring softly.

‘That's right. He's a far cry from those vampires I encountered in that... Dark Prison.’

‘Those creatures were far more formidable in appearance than him!’

The Doctor nodded in agreement.

‘If he is recently converted, this matter is rather intriguing!’

The Doctor gazed at Enzo on the floor, lost in thought.

Lu Xiao grinned.

‘Well...Doctor! May I kill him now?’

The Doctor thought about it and nodded his head.

‘Whatever makes you happy!’

Hearing this, Lu Xiao pursed his lips, then reached out both his hands towards Enzo on the ground.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

Content unsuitable for minors was omitted.

Ten minutes later, Lu Xiao straightened up, wiping his blood-stained fingers with satisfaction.

The squad members behind him stared in horror, clutching their mouths desperately.

Even the Doctor's eyebrow twitched.

He voiced his suspicion.

‘It seems that you hate anomalies?’

Because that vampire had been torn apart by Lu Xiao with his bare hands and the body was neatly categorised.

The scene was utterly bloody.

It took Lu Xiao a moment to process the Doctor's words before offering a sheepish grin.

‘Sir, it's not what you think!’

He gestured towards Enzo's corpse, meticulously arranged on the floor.

‘This is for easier consumption!’

‘Besides, he wasn't what you would call a “weirdness”!’

Hearing this, the Doctor's monocle nearly slipped from his eye. He hastily raised a hand to hold it in place.

‘You mean... you intend to eat it?’

Lu Xiao nodded, a smile playing on his lips.

The doctor's heart lurched, yet he managed to ask calmly.

‘Is it delicious?’

Glimmer: ‘???’

Slick: ‘???’

Little Rain: ‘!!!’

Just as the others were reeling in shock, the training room's door swung open once more.

A squad of special forces soldiers entered, escorting the three-metre-tall prison doctor.

The prison doctor spotted Lu Xiao immediately and strode forward.

‘My friend! Seeing you safe and sound brings me such relief!’

Lu Xiao turned to face the prison doctor, his own expression brightening after seeing him.

‘My friend, your medical skill is truly remarkable! I feel better than ever before!’

‘Getting your approval makes all my efforts worthwhile!’

The captain of the special forces squad escorting the prison doctor gestured with his hand.

The Doctor murmured softly.

‘Stand by for now.’

The prison doctor suddenly remembered his purpose for coming, to make a transaction.

He addressed Lu Xiao.

‘My apologies, my friend! I have other matters to attend to!’

He then turned to the Doctor.

‘Doctor! How might I assist you?’

The Doctor pointed towards Dart, lying on the ground, barely clinging to his life.

The prison doctor turned to look at him, then exclaimed with a hint of excitement.

‘Oh! What a pitiful person! He appears to be terribly injured!’

The Doctor nodded his head.

‘The terms of this transaction is to save his life!’

The prison doctor gently set down the medical kit slung over his shoulder and began examining Dart.

‘What a pitiful person! His internal organs are utterly mangled!’

Dart's squad members gathered around, pleading for the prison doctor to save their captain's life.

The prison doctor's tone held a hint of emotion.

‘I am deeply moved by the bond between you guys!’

‘As a doctor, I will do everything in my power to save him!’

Then, he began the surgery.

The Doctor resumed his casual chat with Lu Xiao.

‘Where was I just now?’

Lu Xiao grinned.

‘You asked me, Was it delicious?'
