Chapter 42: Two Sets of Videos

“After deliberation by the Council members, we require your C03 to transfer S09 to the A01 containment facility!”

“This is also for the safety of humanity! The potential danger of S09 is too great!”

“If you were to use it to start a war, the entirety of human civilization could be severed!”

“Of course, A01 has agreed to pay substantial compensation! Name your price!”

The councilman’s voice was calm.

The Doctor stood up.

“Councilman, I believe you understand very well what S09 represents for China?”

Just then, a young man stood up.

He had smooth, long blond hair and an expression of arrogance.

“Dr. Doctor! We are all well aware of S09’s significance!”

“But you could simply hand S09 over to us. We will take responsibility for protecting your country!”

“Our special forces squad will assist you in guarding the ‘Gate’!”

The Doctor touched the corner of his eye.

“Mr. Adam, thank you for your kindness!”

“But it seems we don’t really need protection from others.”

Then he looked back at the councilman.

“Councilman, I believe we can skip this agenda item directly!”

The councilman glanced in Adam’s direction, then said gravely,

“According to Warden regulations, the proposal should be put to a full vote.”

Hearing this, the Doctor shrugged and sat back down.

The Director sneered in the private channel.

“A01 already has S02-Angel, and now they’re eyeing S09!”

“Tsk tsk tsk! Greed is indeed their true nature!”

The Chief also said with a chuckle,

“The significance of this type of containment subject is clear to everyone!”

“It inherently exists only as a means of deterrence!”

“If A01 takes S09 away, I am afraid the entire Warden organization will become A01’s property!”

“So this vote is just a formality, a gesture the Council is making to A01!”

The Director nodded, he thought so too.

Only the Doctor frowned slowly.

He sensed something was wrong.

On the other side.

Lu Xiao said to the Driver,

“Mr. Driver, could you help me find some materials? I want to make badges for Prison Doctor and Ivan too!”

The Driver was extremely unwilling.

Since being contained, the Driver had hardly left his containment room.

Usually, no staff came to see him, so he enjoyed the leisure.

But Lu Xiao always came to find him, with or without reason.

Adam’s voice rang out.

“Councilman, before the vote, I request to show everyone a set of videos!”

The councilman nodded.

“Request granted.”

Then, a light screen appeared before everyone.

In the footage, there was a figure covered in blood.

He moved among more than a dozen soldiers wearing Warden special forces gear.

The filming perspective was from those soldiers.

Every time he passed a soldier, he would kill that soldier with extremely cruel means.

Adam’s voice sounded.

“This creature, with its cruel methods, is precisely C03’s containment subject S292!”

“C03 has privately violated Warden regulations by defining this anomalous being, full of malice towards humans, as S-class!”

“Moreover, they let this vicious containment subject out to slaughter other Warden soldiers!”

Next was the second set of videos.

In the video, it was the same figure, also slaughtering a Warden special forces squad.

The difference was, this squad was carrying a containment subject.

It was a wooden coffin over half a meter long.

The scene in the video was precisely when Lu Xiao faced The Puppeteer.

Adam said with a light laugh,

“Mr. Artisan, I believe you are better suited to explain this matter!”

Hearing this, Artisan immediately stood up, speaking with deep grief and indignation.

“Dr. Doctor let loose a high-risk containment subject to wantonly slaughter on our nation’s territory!”

“My side dispatched soldiers carrying S137-The Puppeteer to handle the situation!”

“In the end, they were tragically slaughtered, and even S137 was taken away by that high-risk containment subject!”

“Dr. Doctor, please answer me directly: is S137 currently in your C03 facility?”

Everyone’s gaze fell on the Doctor, who nodded slightly.

However, the Doctor soon paused because he found an audio recording.

“Dr. Doctor, do you have corresponding evidence to defend yourself?” the councilman inquired towards the Doctor.

The Doctor shook his head.

“I apologize, Councilman, I have no evidence to refute Mr. Adam’s video.”

A look of contempt flashed across Artisan’s face before he said loudly,

“Councilman, I apply for C03 to return our lost S137!”

The councilman nodded.

“Dr. Doctor, if you have no evidence to explain the circumstances, then Mr. Artisan’s application is valid!”

The Doctor, supporting the frame of his non-existent glasses, stood up and said faintly,

“I have no corresponding evidence for the first video, but I have an audio recording that should explain Mr. Artisan’s issue.”

He directly played an audio recording.

[“This is the Doctor.”]

[“Doctor! Return The Puppeteer!”]

[“I refuse.”]

[“Doctor! S137 is a containment subject of our J01 facility. How dare you refuse to return it? Aren’t you afraid I’ll report this to the Supreme Office?”]

[“Since S137 appeared within our borders, it indicates your containment failed!”]

[“According to Warden regulations, for containment subjects that have breached containment and appeared on our territory, our facility has the right, and the obligation, to contain them!”]

[“But you know perfectly well that S137’s containment did not fail!”]

[“Sorry! I don’t know that!”]

[“I only know that S137 appeared on our territory. To prevent a containment breach incident, we contained it!”]

[“If you have any objections to this result, you can report it to the Supreme Office for judgement by the Executive Management Council!”]

This was a phone call between the Doctor and Artisan.

After listening to this recording, everyone looked at Artisan with great interest.

Artisan also felt his face grow hot.

He looked towards Adam, who was currently looking at him with an expression like he was watching a clown.

Instantly, Artisan understood what was happening.

Adam had sold him out.

The reason he dared to stand up and spread rumors was that Adam had told him he could erase all related evidence.

Now it seemed Adam had not done so.

For a moment, emotions like annoyance, hatred and anger churned in Artisan’s heart.

“Mr. Artisan, can you provide a reasonable explanation for this recording?”

Artisan did not answer the councilman’s question. He cast a venomous glance towards the Doctor and Adam, then simply sat back down.

The councilman looked at the Doctor again.

“Then, Doctor, don't you need to defend yourself regarding the first video?”
